Services and Architectures Working Group |

Services and Architectures Working Group (SA WG) Draft Charter

The major deliverables of the SA WG are physical scenarios and any supporting Implementation Agreements that might be required. The SA WG may also define or update the MSF physical architecture. These documents will be inputs to the Interoperability WG to be used to develop test configurations, cases, and plans to support planned interoperability events.

MSF SA WG is responsible for:

  • The analysis and adoption of new services within the MSF as standardized within SDO’s and other industry fora, including impacts to:
    • Service Layer interaction
    • User to Network Interface (UNI)
    • Network to Network Interface (NNI).
  • Describe the interaction of end users with the network.
  • Definition of the MSF physical architecture around which meaningful interoperability events can be run. The physical architecture will be a realization of the functional architectures already defined by one or more SDOs.
  • The selection of appropriate protocols at interface points in the physical architecture. Typically these will be endorsements of protocols published by existing SDOs.
  • Where necessary define Implementation Agreements (IAs) for any protocols which are either not fully defined by industry, or where extensive changes or clarifications to a protocol are required prior to creation of test plans.
  • The creation of physical scenarios which provide a scope and the use cases for a given interoperability event supported by the MSF. The physical scenarios typically contain high level use cases, a list of open interfaces to be tested and any required MSF endorsements of the protocols running over these interfaces.
  • The SA WG receives feedback relating to issues encountered during the interop event relating to functionality or/and protocol(s). In turn, it is the responsibility of the SA WG to determine if the cited issues should be referred to the TC leadership for further action to be initiated (e.g. sending of liaison statements).
  • To work with the BoD and TC leadership on developing and managing liaison relationships with standards organizations and industry fora on architecture and protocol issues
